The book reading got a break while we replaced our carpeted computer cove with a wooden floor. In the middle of this work our not so trusty IBM decided to eat its disk and die forever. We’re now getting back in order and will start posting book thoughts again.

The expedition is sponsored by a mysterious Brizilian Portugese rubber baron.

River Boats at Manaos

Features adventures exploring the Amazon Rio Negra with stays in rubber wealthy Manaos and its seldom used grand opera hous. They meet a half gypsy crippled soldier who becomes their guide and advisor. Halfway through the novel turns dark but is worthwhile reading.
