Bendjelloul also won the 2013 BAFTA, Director&#8217;s Guild of America, Producer&#8217;s Guild of America, Writer&#8217;s Guild of America, American Cinema Editors and the 2012 International Documentary Association awards. Bendjelloul acted in the SVT television show Ebba och Didrik as Philip Clavelle in 1990.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/life\/people\/2014\/05\/13\/oscar-winning-director-malik-bendjelloul-dies-at-36\/9053835\/\">USAtoday <\/a><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"425\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LyLm-Xg5mXY\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<li><\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<blockquote><p>Last, this year\u2019s edition was overshadowed by the terrible news that the Swedish director Malik Bendjelloul, 36, was found dead on Tuesday, apparently a suicide. Mr. Bendjelloul\u2019s first and only feature was \u201cSearching for Sugar Man,\u201d an inquiry into art, perseverance and the American musician Sixto Rodriguez. A Sundance favorite that went on to win the Oscar for best feature documentary, \u201cSugar Man\u201d felt like the first installment in what was going to be a great career. I interviewed Mr. Bendjelloul last year for an article about young directors, and in an email, he related that he had finished a script inspired by some of his grandmother\u2019s Ouija board sessions in Stockholm in the 1930s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t believe in these things,\u201d Mr. Bendjelloul wrote, \u201cbut one session was pretty interesting: They asked \u2018are there any major discoveries left to be made\u2019 and the reply was \u2018yes, the greatest discovery in the history of humanity.\u2019 The film is about this future scientific discovery.
