In the days following the adaptation, however, there was widespread outrage. The program&#8217;s news-bulletin format was decried as cruelly deceptive by some newspapers and public figures, leading to an outcry against the perpetrators of the broadcast, but the episode launched <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_War_of_the_Worlds_(radio)\">Orson Welles<\/a> to fame.<br \/>\nWelles&#8217; adaptation was one of the Radio Project&#8217;s first studies.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<li><\/li>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?feature=player_embedded&#038;v=nUdghSMTXsU#t=136\">Orson Welles meets H.G.
